On Friday, June 22, the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) reportedly arrested Jaspreet Hayer, 27, for felony possession of stolen property and violation of parole from a burglary earlier in the month, according to an official SPD press release.

On Wednesday, June 6, local musician and business owner Chris Amato was the victim of a residential burglary, which included the taking of a unique “Marching Snare Drum” that Amato regularly plays as part of the City of Sacramento Pipe Band. The stolen drum was reportedly valued at approximately $1,000.

The SPD says Amato reported the theft to the police and then started his own investigation, contacting numerous local music stores and inquiring if anyone had attempted to sell the unique instrument. Upon contacing the Guitar Center at Arden Fair, Amato reportedly learned someone had attempted to sell the drum and the store clerk had retained the contact information for the individual. Amato then re-contacted the SPD and a play to identify the suspect and retrieve the stolen instrument was initiated.

The investigation led to the arrest of Hayer, who was found in possession of the snare drum. Amato was called to the scene and positively identified his property.
