Call helps catch car burglars

San Luis Obispo police arrested two individuals for trying to break into vehicles on Saturday.

According to SLOPD, officers responded to a call around 5 a.m. in the area of Atascadero and Oceanaire to the report of four males looking into vehicles with flashlights. Police say three males were contacted at Madonna and Oceanaire as they were leaving the area.

One of the suspects, Jesse Maciel, 20, a transient in San Luis Obispo, was identified as the one who was involved in the attempted auto burglary.

Another suspect, Michael Siegel, 20, also a transient in San Luis Obispo, was arrested for possession of stolen property and being under the influence of narcotics.

Police say stolen property was returned to one victim who was identified by discarded items on the sidewalk near Madonna and Oceanaire.

Both suspects were booked into county jail.
