Sac Sheriff seeks additional victims for sexual assault suspect

On the afternoon of March 14, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested 35-year-old Fernando Santos for charges related to the sexual assault of a teenage girl last year, according to a press release issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department on March 15.

Santos was reportedly booked into Sacramento County Main Jail for oral copulation and unlawful sexual intercourse with the 17-year-old victim, and posted bail and was released from custody early on March 15.

According to the release, the 17-year-old victim was a student of Santos’ who reportedly works as a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor at a private gym in the Arden-Arcade area. Detectives believe the victim had been assaulted by Santos on more than one occasion between April 2011 to January 2012. The victim ultimately reported the assaults, says the release, and detectives arrested Santos at his residence based on the victim’s allegations and further investigation.

Due to the nature of Santos’ occupation and the fact he had numerous students, the Sherrif’s Department reportedly believes there may be additional victims of similar crimes and urges anyone who has had inappropriate contact with Santos or has any knowledge of unlawful actions on Santos’ part to contact Detective Kelly Clark of the Sheriff’s Sex Assaults Bureau at (916) 874-5070.
