Female jogger assaulted

A female jogger was assaulted this morning as she was running on Vachell Lane off Buckley Road near the San Luis Obispo city limits.

According to the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Department, the victim was accosted from behind by a Hispanic male in his late 20s or early 30s around 7 a.m.

The suspect is also described as having a stocky build, dark hair, wearing a black beanie, black parka and a pair of blue and white plaid long shorts.

According to deputies, the victim saw the man approaching as she stopped to adjust her running equipment, such as her iPod. The victim stated she was grabbed from behind with a hand over her mouth as she began running again.

The victim then said she spun around and hit the man with her iPod causing him to back away. She also told deputies she started yelling aggressively at the attacker.

According to deputies, the woman then continued running toward the city limits and called 911.

After a search of the area, however, deputies were unable to locate the suspect.

Deputies are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s department immediately or contact Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
