Accused kidnapper still not competent for trial

A San Luis Obispo judge declared alleged kidnapper Annette Hale is still not competent to stand trial.

Hale was accused of kidnapping a four-year-old from a homeless shelter in Atascadero in August. According to police, a call was received on the day of the kidnapping detailing the whereabouts of the boy, an empty car lot off Atascadero’s El Camino Real. Police soon found hale hiding in nearby bushes.

According to the court, there will be periodic checks on Hale to determine if and when she will be able to stand trial. For now, Hale will be a patient at Patton State Hospital in the Riverside area.
