Judge sets trial for suspect accused of attack on homeless woman

A trial is set for the man who allegedly assaulted and tortured a homeless woman in San Luis Obispo.

Tommy Ledbetter is on trial for torture and drug, and other violent crimes

Tommy Ledbetter, 47, of San Luis Obispo, is headed to trial after a judge announced there is sufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution.

Ledbetter was arrested on April 6 after he allegedly held a homeless 26-year-old woman against her will and then beat and tortured her at a mobile home park on March 30, according to police.

Ledbetter is charged with crimes including torture, assault, criminal threats and robbery. He is also charged with possession of drugs for sale. According to police, Ledbetter had methamphetamine and a prescription narcotic with him at the time of arrest. He will be back in court late next month.
