Suspect pleads not guilty in Atascadero standoff case

Faced with multiple felonies, the man arrested for barricading his home for a 15-hour stand-off with Atascadero police has entered a plea a not guilty on all charges.

The accused, Rudolph Charles Muravez II, 45, entered his plea of not guilty in San Luis Obispo Superior Court to Judge Michael Duffy.

Muravez faces six felonies that include false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing an officer from performing his duty and exhibiting a firearm with the intent to resist arrest. Muravez was also charged with a misdemeanor of resisting arrest.

According to court officials, Muravez is scheduled to appear next for a pre-preliminary hearing on Dec. 13 and a preliminary hearing on Dec. 15 before Judge Duffy.
