A traffic stop in Milpitas last week resulted in the arrest of a Fremont man on charges of marijuana cultivation.

John Thanh Vo

Milpitas police say that just after 7 p.m. on November 29, John Thanh Vo, 28, allegedly committed a traffic violation in his 2004 Lexus and was stopped by patrol officers in the area of East Calaveras Boulevard and North Gadsden Avenue.

During the investigation, Vo reportedly gave the officers permission to search his vehicle, authorities explain. The search revealed a large quantity of marijuana in the trunk. Further investigation led officers to a residence in the 2100 block of Pedro Avenue, where multiple pounds of marijuana, hundreds of marijuana plants, and equipment used to cultivate marijuana were located.

The drugs and paraphernalia were confiscated as evidence at the scene and Vo was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, and transportation of marijuana, according to Milpitas police.
