Milpitas police nab suspected carjacker

Quick police work led to the arrest of an alleged armed carjacker in Milpitas last Sunday (Nov. 6).

According to Milpitas police, the suspect confronted the victim in the parking lot of Marshall’s at Great Mall, brandished a handgun, and demanded the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Adan Serjio Olivares, fled in the car, eventually crashing it in the 600 block of S. Abel Street and fleeing on foot. Emergency services personnel arrived on scene in fewer than three minutes, arrested Olivares and recovered the handgun.

Olivares was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of carjacking, being a felon in possession of a handgun, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
