Man reportedly posed online as 17-year-old to lure teen

Police arrested Jeffrey Thomas Sackman, 44, who had allegedly trapped the 15-year-old girl in his home, then drugged and raped her after posing as a 17-year-old boy on social media websites.

CATHEDRAL CITY – Riverside County prosecutors are being asked to consider multiple charges against a 44-year-old man who was arrested last Friday after luring a Buena Park teenager he had met on-line two years earlier to his home.

Police arrested Jeffrey Thomas Sackman, 44, who had allegedly trapped the 15-year-old girl in his home, then drugged and raped her after posing as a 17-year-old boy on social media websites.

Investigators detailed the charges against Sackman today. He had been arrested at his home in the 28-200 block of Landau Blvd.

The county DA’s office is considering a list of felony charges. Sackman, said police, has already admitted to some allegations.

“She willingly left home and came out here looking and thinking she was going to get something different than she did,” police spokesman Lt. Chuck Robinson said.

Police said the girl, unidentified due to her age, first met Sackman on social media sites about two years ago. He gave his name as Giovanni Antonio Corsentino, said police.

Sometime last week, Sackman persuaded the girl to finally visit Coachella Valley, which is about 90 miles from her Orange County home. Police said he bought her a bus ticket and promised to get her to Arizona so she could visit her brother.

Sackman picked her up at the bus station, took her to his home, which is across the street from Desert Princess Country Club, and sexually assaulted her several times, said police, adding that he also gave her methamphetamine.

A call from the victim’s mother last Friday, she told police her runaway daughter might be in an apartment in Cathedral City, police found the 15-year-old “being hidden,” said Robinson.
Riverside County court records reveal no criminal past on Sackman, who was being held on Monday with four felony charges pending – rape, unlawful sex with a minor and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor.

Cathedral City police believe that Sackman may have had prior contacts with other possible Coachella Valley victims.

Anyone with information about Sackman are asked to contact investigators (760-770-0381).
