Milpitas teens arrested for armed robbery

MILPITAS – Two Milpitas teens were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of robbing a man of his wallet – and his weed – at gunpoint.

The victim, an unidentified Sunnyvale resident, contacted Milpitas police on Sunday to report that he had been robbed by two males, one of whom was armed with a gun.

“The victim and suspects met through Craigslist and agreed to meet so the victim could sell his marijuana,” Milpitas Police Lt. Steven Petrakovitz explained.

The meeting took place in the 1300 block of Columbus Drive where one of the suspects, a 17-year-old juvenile, reportedly pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s property, according to a Milpitas police report. The pair then fled on foot and were last seen running through the walkway from Columbus Circle to the ball fields behind Russell Middle School, authorities say.

The victim was able to provide investigators with detailed descriptions of the two suspects, who were arrested the following day in separate locations in Milpitas, the police report said.

The unidentified juvenile was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. The second suspect, identified as 19-year-old Gerome Rogers, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on the same charges, officials say.

Milpitas police are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact them at (408) 586-2400. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call (408) 586-2500, or visit the department’s website by clicking HERE.
