San Jose woman gives false ID during traffic stop

MILIPITAS – A woman with multiple felony warrants was arrested early last Thursday in Milpitas, according to police department reports.

Officials say an officer located a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of a closed business in the 1100 block of Cadillac Court that had been victimized by copper thieves in recent weeks. As Officer Ruben Lopez approached the vehicle just before 1 a.m. July 28, the driver sped away.

Lopez immediately performed a traffic stop and discovered two people inside the vehicle, police reports said. One of the suspects, 30-year-old Bonnie Levy, allegedly provided Lopez with a false name. Further investigation led police to her true identity.

“A computer check revealed Levy had multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest, exceeding $200,000 in bail, for various offenses including burglary, forgery and giving false information to a police officer,” said Sgt. Darryl Sequeira.

Levy, a resident of San Jose, was taken into custody and booked into Santa Clara County jail for her outstanding warrants as well as an additional charge of giving false information to police.
