Man accused of stabbing grandfather

SACRAMENTO — Police on Tuesday arrested a 33-year-old man for the murder of his grandfather.

On Jan. 18 at 6:13 a.m., officers responded to a house near 64th Avenue and Amherst Street regarding a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers found an 83-year-old male inside the residence with stab wounds to his upper body. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Officers at the scene determined the man had lived at the house on 64th Avenue with his grandson, Arondrei Abel-Bey, Abel-Bey’s girlfriend and their five children. Based on initial observations, officers did not believe that a burglary had occurred.

Upon further investigation, homicide detectives determined that Abel-Bey and his grandfather got into an argument that escalated with Abel-Bey’s assault and stabbing of his grandfather.

Detectives arrested Arondrei Abel-Bey without incident at police headquarters.
