Santa Barbara college students linked to drug sales

SANTA BARBARA – A pair of undergraduate students at UC Santa Barbara were arrested late last month on suspicion of dealing drugs.

The Nov. 30 arrests of Paul Frank and Alexander Stemplewski took place following service of a narcotics division search warrant within walking distance of the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. Detectives contacted the 21-year-old suspects at their Isla Vista apartment complex.

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Drew Sugars, narcotics detectives “have been working this case for the past three months.”

“We found a wide array of controlled substances,” Sugars noted.

Taken into evidence were more than three ounces of brown powder heroin, four pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, ecstasy tablets, DMT and LSD, all of which were reportedly packaged for sale. Street value of the narcotics is estimated in excess of $12,000.

Frank was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on multiple narcotics charges with bail set at $30,000. Stemplewski was booked for possession of ecstasy with bail set at $10,000.
