Police find murder suspect in Placer jail

Brad Robert Miller, 46

ROSEVILLE — Brad Robert Miller was sitting in Placer County jail early Monday morning on an intoxicated driving charge when police informed the 46-year-old he was being charged with murdering his friend.

Miller was arrested Saturday afternoon for allegedly driving under the influence. Sunday evening, Roseville police discovered the slain body of Eric Dale McGhee, at his home on the 500 block of Farridge Drive. The 40-year-old McGhee’s family members had asked police to check in on McGhee, who they hadn’t heard from in a couple of days. Along with McGhee’s body, authorities found at least one gunshot wound.

Whether the gunshot wound killed McGhee is not yet clear.

Details of the investigation, including what led investigators to Miller, are being withheld to protect the investigation, said police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther.

Miller had been in police custody since his Saturday afternoon arrest. He is tentatively scheduled for arraignment in court on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The Placer County coroner conducted an autopsy Monday morning to determine further information about the cause of death. Investigation into the case is continuing.
