Roseville police search for shooter, motive

ROSEVILLE — Police investigators are working to identify the suspect in a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening in a strip mall parking lot on Sunrise Avenue at Cirby Way.

The victim, a male in his 50s, was shot in the abdomen and is being treated for his injuries.

Around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, city police and fire personnel responded to a reported shooting in the parking lot of a strip mall on the 1000 block of Sunrise Avenue. The victim had been standing on a sidewalk in the strip mall when another male approached him. Shots were fired, the victim fell, and the suspect fled on foot across the parking lot, police reports said.

The suspect was described as a light-complexioned Hispanic male in his 20s, approximately 5’6″ tall and 140 pounds, with a thin mustache, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt or jacket.

Investigators have not yet determined whether the victim and the suspect knew each other, or a motivation for the shooting.
