Burglars disrupt Sacramento cemetery

SACRAMENTO — Two separate burglaries in the space of a week at a Sacramento cemetery have prompted local authorities to seek the public’s help in identifying those responsible.

The Sacramento Police Department is seeking the community’s help in identifying the people responsible for breaking into a local cemetery at 6100 Stockton Blvd. on Aug. 4 and again this past Sunday.

The latest occurrence involved one or more suspects who broke into the cemetery’s storage room and stole a 15-foot John Deer tractor (with attached loader) by driving it through the storage room door and then through the locked wrought-iron gate.

The cemetery was also broken into on Tuesday, Aug. 4 when one or more unidentified suspects cut a large hole in the wrought-iron fence. They then made their way into the mausoleum and removed valuable brass trimming from several crypts, according to a department-issued release.

The Sacramento Police Department is urging anyone with information pertaining to this crime or those involved to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000
