3 murder suspects in court Oct. 1 for gang shooting

PASADENA – The17-year-old boy killed in the Sept. 25 gang shooting “was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Janet Pope-Givens, spokesperson for the Pasadena Police Department.

The real targets of the gang shooting last week fled the scene unharmed. Deon Lamar Holloway, who was accompanying them, had no prior record of gang activity, Pope-Givens said.

Urban pot farm discovered in East San Gabriel Valley

GLENDORA – Police found nearly 100 marijuana plants in the bedroom of a Glendora resident, and two men were taken into custody Thursday.

The street value of the plants was estimated at between $80,000 to $150,000 when fully grown, said Lieutenant Rob Lamborghini of the Glendora Police Department.

Lottery ticket scammers target elderly

PASADENA – Police are warning the public about an organized lottery scheme, where scam artists have been conning thousands of dollars out of individuals, many of whom are elderly, according to Pasadena Police sources.

Individuals are being approached in cities around the San Gabriel Valley, but victims are voluntarily withdrawing funds from banks in Pasadena, said Janet Givens-Pope spokesperson for the Pasadena Police Department.

Find may signal end of car theft ring

Last week, deputies found a Maxine Ellis’ Mercedes-Benz SL500 unoccupied in a neighborhood in Sacramento County. The car was returned to Ellis, who lives in Tracy.

The car was missing $12,000 worth of parts, including the stereo and a controller for its convertible top.

4 injured in three Stockton shootings

On Wednesday, four men suffered minor wounds in three separate shootings in Stockton, police said.

Two men walking in the 1300 block of Occidental Avenue were shot around 10 p.m. several times by two men with T-shirts wrapped around their heads. The victims were taken to hospitals and treated for minor injuries. No detailed descriptions of the attackers, who drove away, were given by the victims.
